Beethoven Symphonies - SOLD OUT

They belong together, were premiered under reversed numbers and form the glorious centre of Ludwig van Beethoven's style-forming symphonies. The present "Fifth" is inseparably linked to the throbbing of fate and the prime example of a symphony that leads through the night to light. The "Sixth", the "Pastoral", is regarded as the big bang of the romantic tone poem.

"Pastoral"

LUDWIG VAN BEETHOVEN
Symphony No. 5, C minor, op. 67

Vienna Symphony Orchestra
Philippe Jordan Conductor

They belong together, were premiered under reversed numbers and form the glorious centre of Ludwig van Beethoven's style-forming symphonies. The present "Fifth" is inseparably linked to the throbbing of fate and the prime example of a symphony that leads through the night to the light. The "Sixth", the "Pastoral", is regarded as the big bang of the romantic tone poem. Nature with its rushing brook, rustic village chapel, stormy thunderstorm and sunny idyll is unmistakable, but is reflected above all in the soul of the observer. Beethoven did not want to illustrate, but to sound out his feelings. This is the traditional guest performance of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, the "native speakers" of this music. The podium is dominated by chief conductor Philippe Jordan, one of the most important maestri of our time.
