The Bruckner Orchester Linz, with its principal conductor Markus Poschner, is particularly fond of the great symphonies of its namesake Anton Bruckner. This time the "Sixth", which the composer called his "most perky", is on the program. Bruckner's humorous statements should not be taken too seriously, for the sauciness of his music was so alien to his time that the work had to wait a long time for its premiere, until 1899, when Gustav Mahler was at the podium. Unfortunately, the creator of this A major symphony had been dead for three years, so he could not protest against the massive cuts.
