Between two symphonic pearls, world-class violinist Leila Josefowicz plays Igor Stravinsky's classical, dance-like violin concerto. She "has captured the hearts of concert audiences around the world with her open, fresh approach to repertoire and her dynamic virtuosity," according to the press about the brilliant soloist from the USA, whose recordings that set standards often won awards. The Dresden Philharmonic is conducted by Krzysztof Urbánski. According to the "Chicago Tribune", the young Polish maestro is "more than a mere sparkling prodigy of the baton". To this day, Dvořáks "Symphonic Variations" are among the rarities, quite wrongly so. One encounters the Czech master's 7th symphony more often. "I am busy with this symphony for London right now," wrote Dvořák in 1884 to a friend, "and wherever I go, I can't think of anything else. Pray God that this Czech music will move the world." She has moved the world of music.
