MOZARTEUM ORCHESTRA SALZBURG
HANS GRAF - Conductor
HERBERT SCHUCH - Piano

One of the most frequently performed symphonies in the repertoire, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s dramatic and poignant swan song, the “Pathétique”, is paired in this concert with a gripping rarity penned by the Russian master. The “Symphonic Ballad” paints a vivid picture of a voivode, a warlord. There are fascinating connections between the two works. Maestro Hans Graf, who has repeatedly engaged intensively with Russian music, performs with the renowned Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg and will also be present for the Concert introduction. In between, one of the great Romantic piano concertos will be performed - that of Robert Schumann. The world-class soloist is Herbert Schuch, whose career began in Salzburg with his win of the Mozart Prize.
