Viennese Classic

An evening of concert music dedicated entirely to the Viennese Classical period, opening with Salieri’s lively overture. Full of verve and musical wit, it transports the listener straight into the soundscape of the late 18th century. The highlight, however, is Mozart’s heavenly Concerto for Flute and Harp in C major. With this rare combination of two such sublime, ethereal instruments, Mozart achieved a true stroke of genius. He created a concerto of unmistakable beauty, with virtuoso passages, lyrical melodies and finely tuned dialogues between the solo instruments that will delight every listener. The programme concludes with Beethoven’s Eighth Symphony, which reveals the composer’s cheerful side and with which the Salzburger Kulturvereinigung is already getting the audience in the mood for the upcoming Beethoven Year.
