Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov enjoyed exploring the Orient and created an enduring symphonic monument to Princess Scheherazade, who saved herself with adventurous stories from a thousand and one life-threatening nights; this is a sounding novel with unforgettable motives. The tour guide is the Finn Santtu-Matias Rouvali, one of the great conductor personalities of the younger generation. He leads the travel-loving and famous Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, of which he is the chief conductor. Arabella Steinbacher is a world-class violinist and has one of the greatest violin concertos of the 20th century, that by Erich Wolfgang Korngold, in her luggage. With it, we embark on a sonorous and melodious journey into "tonal modernism" - and a little into the world of legendary Hollywood films. The magnificent overture of this concerto, which praises the sun god Helios by the great Dane Carl Nielsen, is a perfect match.
