ANTON BRUCKNER
Symphony No 4, E flat major "Romantic"

ORCHESTRA DELLA SVIZZERA ITALIANA
MARKUS POSCHNER Conductor
EMMANUEL PAHUD Flute

With his grandiose "Fourth", Anton Bruckner was finally able to celebrate a real success in Vienna in 1881. Alongside the "Seventh", it has remained his most frequently performed symphony to this day and was actually described by the composer himself as "Romantic"; indeed, it originally even had a program ranging from a morning mood to a hunting scene to an evening folk festival. Maestro Markus Poschner, one of the most important Bruckner interpreters of our time, will make a guest appearance, this time at the helm of the top-class "Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana" based in Lugano, whose chief conductor he has been since 2015. Wonderful French neo-impressionism can be heard before the interval when one of today's leading flautists, Emmanuel Pahud, plays the concerto "Dreamtime" by his compatriot Philippe Hersant. Music from the 21st century can be this beautiful. Simply time to dream.
