Antonín Dvořák's "great" symphonies also include No. 7 in D minor, composed for England and yet full of Bohemian melodiousness and dance pleasure through and through.
The Czech master's best friend and mentor was Johannes Brahms, whose symphonies were the inspiration here in their classical form. The young Viennese pianist Lukas Sternath was already traveling the world as a Viennese choirboy. He is now a student of Igor Levit and not only won 1st prize at the ARD competition in 2022, but also the SKV special prize for outstanding interpretation of a Romantic work. In the 2024/25 season, he is an "ECHO Rising Star" and presents himself in Salzburg before the interval with the brilliant Brahms Second Piano Concerto, which is one of the most important works of the Romantic period. On the podium of the Wuppertal Symphony Orchestra, we welcome its charismatic conductor Patrick Hahn from Graz, who is currently the youngest GMD in the German-speaking world and is currently enjoying a great international career.
