"I want to reach into the jaws of fate".

LUDWIG VAN BEETHOVEN
Sonata for Piano No. 5, C minor, op. 10/1
Sonata for piano no. 8, c minor, op. 13 "Pathétique"
Sonata for piano no. 23, f minor, op. 57 "Appassionata"

Cornelius Obonya, recitation
Florian Krumpöck, piano

With his series "A Pilgrimage to Beethoven," pianist and conductor Florian Krumpöck once again delves into the world of the famous master and, together with castle actor and "Jedermann" legend Cornelius Obonya, dedicates himself to Beethoven's melancholy years overshadowed by fate. After the young Beethoven had quickly made a name for himself in Vienna as a virtuoso pianist and outstanding composer, his life took what was probably the worst turn for a passionate musician: the first signs of the hearing disorder that would eventually lead to his almost complete deafness appeared and plunged the young artist into a deep crisis, from which he found refuge only in music. With Beethoven's famous piano sonatas "Pathétique" and "Appassionata", a musical phenomenon shaken by fate is melancholically and virtuously brought back to life.
