New Year's Eve Concert Zell am See

Featuring the first movement from Mozart’s ‘Jupiter Symphony’ – his last great symphony, which marks the end of an era in radiant C major – alongside lively melodies by Bizet, Rossini and Johann Strauss (son), the New Year’s Eve concert in Zell am See brings the year to a joyful close. The soloist in this New Year’s Eve concert is the 16-year-old Margarita Pochebut. She performs Camille Saint-Saëns’ most popular violin piece, “Introduction et Rondo capriccioso”, which the composer originally wrote for his friend, the violinist Pablo de Sarasate, and whose leitmotif has become a real hit. “A kind of fantasy waltz in the Spanish style with an enchanting effect,” as one music critic put it as early as 1876.
