Vienna Symphony Orchestra – Eroica

SAMUEL BARBER
Concerto for Violin and Orchestra

LUDWIG VAN BEETHOVEN
Symphony No. 3,  E♭ major, Eroica

VIENNA SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
PETR POPELKA - Conductor
MARÍA DUEÑAS - Violin

The Vienna Symphony Orchestra’s traditional Salzburg concert, this time under the baton of its charismatic chief conductor Petr Popelka, will naturally be dedicated in 2027 to Beethoven, who died 200 years ago, whose “Eroica” is one of the most accomplished and beloved classical symphonies and, at the same time, a captivating foray into new musical realms—as well as a swan song for the tragic hero Napoleon and a passionate appeal for freedom and peace. Prior to that, one of the most beautiful violin concertos of the 20th century will be performed, that of the American “modernist classic” Samuel Barber, striking a balance between lyrical sentiment and brilliant virtuosity. It will be performed by the fantastic young Spanish star violinist María Dueñas.

Tickets: € 36 – € 129

Concert introduction (in German language): 6.20 pm, Patrons’ Lounge
