14.10.2022

The prize will be awarded at the special concert commemorating the 108th anniversary of Georg Trakl's death entitled "Cosmos Trakl" on 3 November 2022.

"As a border crosser between the arts, Brigitta Falkner has established a singular position within the tradition of the German-language avant-garde with her picture texts, comics, short films and audio pieces." Based on this reasoning of the jury - made up of Uta Degner from the University of Salzburg, the Viennese literary critic Daniela Strigl and the Trakl Prize winner Oswald Egger - Brigitta Falkner is awarded the Georg Trakl Prize for Poetry of the Province of Salzburg, which is endowed with 10,000 euros. The Viennese, who also writes radio plays and editorial contributions for radio and draws comics, has been writing poetry for around 30 years. Last year she was awarded the Ernst Jandl Prize.

The prize will be presented at the special concert "Kosmos Trakl" on 3 November 2022, organised by the Salzburg Cultural Association to mark the 108th anniversary of Georg Trakl's death, at 7.30 pm in the Vienna Hall of the Mozarteum Foundation.
