With his anthology *Sulle rovine d’Europa* (Milan 2024), Italian translator Raoul Precht has presented an impressive selection of German- and French-language poems from World War I in Italian, including Georg Trakl’s final poems. He will speak with Thomas Assinger (GTG) and Deborah Holmes (University of Salzburg) about the challenge of translating historical “war poetry” today, the distinctive features of Trakl’s late poetry, its echoes in Italian poetry, and the reception of Trakl in Italy.

Raoul Precht (born in Rome in 1960) is a novelist, poet, essayist, and translator from German, French, and Spanish. Among the authors he has translated are Peter Handke, Franz Kafka, Frank Wedekind, and Stefan Zweig.

Admission is free. Water, sparkling wine, and entertainment will follow.
