LUKAS STERNATH Piano

The young Viennese pianist and "ECHO Rising Star" Lukas Sternath presents himself in Salzburg with Johannes Brahms, whose brilliant second piano concerto is one of the great works of the Romantic period. Sternath has already toured the world as a Viennese choirboy. He is now a student of Igor Levit and won not only first prize at the ARD competition in 2022, but also the SKV special prize for outstanding interpretation of a Romantic work. His partners are the Wuppertal Symphony Orchestra and its charismatic conductor Patrick Hahn from Graz, who is currently the youngest GMD in the German-speaking world and is currently enjoying a great international career. The first part of the concert features two pieces by Richard Strauss. The much-performed, sonorous tone poem "Don Juan" is followed by a precious and stirring rarity, the symphonic interludes from the autobiographical opera "Intermezzo", which are characterized by the Viennese waltz and also feature a hearty tobogganing section.
